So, what are the specific causes of die-cutting flying beacons?


01. The die-cutting depth is not enough

If the die-cutting knife does not completely cut off the surface material, then the waste edge can easily take the label away and the phenomenon of "flying standard" will occur. In addition, the die cutting knife does not completely cut off the adhesive layer will also cause the phenomenon of waste stripping, because the adhesive under the waste edge adheres to the adhesive under the label, and the label will be picked up intermittently, and the wire drawing phenomenon will occur.


02. Adhesive reflux after die-cutting

When the ambient temperature is high, the fluidity of the adhesive is enhanced, if the die-cutting station and the waste discharge station are far apart, it is easy to make the original cut adhesive layer reflux adhesion, at this time the position of the waste side band label is not fixed, and the number of belt marks is more or less. When separating the label from the discharge edge, a noticeable drawing phenomenon can be seen. This is similar to the wire drawing phenomenon caused by the adhesive layer not being cut off, and the two can be distinguished by dyeing method: the label of the adhesive reflux, the die-cutting depth is relatively deep, and the die-cutting knife marks can be seen on the surface of the silicone oil layer of the backing paper; If the adhesive layer is not completely cut, the die-cutting depth is relatively shallow, and the knife mark on the surface of the silicone oil layer on the base paper is also very shallow, or the knife mark is not visible at all. The adhesive layer is not completely cut off or the adhesive reflux is adhesion, and the waste discharge edge will bring up the label irregularly, at this time, shorten the distance between the die cutting station and the waste discharge station, which can greatly reduce the probability of adhesive reflux. Increasing the discharge angle can reduce the occurrence of wire drawing. The small size waste roller and the large waste angle can quickly peel off the waste edge to a certain extent, reduce its adhesion with the label adhesive layer, and help the label and waste edge separate.

03. The die-cutting knife is defective

When the label brought up by the waste edge is always in the same position, the label can be carefully removed from the waste side, use a magnifying glass to carefully observe the position of the sticking when the label is removed from the waste side, if there is a paper fiber that has been pulled off, usually either the die cutter has a notch, or the die cutter has blunt, or the pressure position here sags. This is due to the problem of the die cutting knife, which causes the surface material to be cut off insufficiently, and the label is carried away by the waste edge, similar to the situation where there is a gap in the head and tail of the die cutting knife.


04. The area of the waste side is too large

For round, drum-shaped or some special shaped labels, the greater the ratio of the waste edge area to the label area, the greater the pulling force of the waste edge on the label during waste, and the easier it is to take away the label. Adding a blade to the waste edge of the die-cutting knife version can disperse the force during waste, and it is not easy to produce a labeling problem.


05. The peeling force of the self-adhesive is low

The low peeling force of the self-adhesive will produce a "flying mark" during the die-cutting and receiving process. There are two main reasons for the low peeling force of the self-adhesive: (1) The peeling force of the self-adhesive material is originally set low, or the self-adhesive material is stored for too long, so that the adhesive and silicone oil mutate. (2) When storing, the temperature of the self-adhesive is too low, the frozen adhesive is not thawed during processing, or the temperature of the processing site is too low, so that the adhesion of the hardened adhesive layer and the backing paper becomes worse.

06. The thickness and stiffness of the label paper are large

The thicker or denser the label paper, the higher the stiffness in relative terms. After the material with high stiffness is die-cut into a label, when passing through a guide roller with a relatively small diameter, the header and the backing paper are easy to separate and "fly the mark", and it is also easy to drop the label or "fly the mark" phenomenon in the paper feeding process of automatic labeling. Therefore, label materials with large thickness (such as the thickness of the laminated label are relatively large), high stiffness and high density are not suitable for making small-size labels.


07. Die-cutting knife tape causes pre-peeling around the label

If the die cutting knife adheres to the adhesive when cutting the adhesive layer, when the die cutting knife is lifted, it is easy to take the label around (partial) away from the backing paper at the same time, forming a pre-peeling state. Relatively speaking, small-size labels are more prone to "flying labels" in the process of waste rewinding.


08. The rebound sponge is used incorrectly

Install a rebound sponge at the die-cutting knife plate of the corresponding label part, which can suppress the label when the die-cutting knife retracts and prevent the label from being pre-peeled; On the other hand, there is no need to install a rebound sponge at the discharge edge, so that the waste edge can be pre-peeled and it is easier to get rid of the liner. The correct use of the rebound sponge can make die-cutting waste smoother and greatly reduce the probability of small label "flying mark". A neutral rebound sponge should be installed on the flat die-cutting knife version.

09. The ambient temperature is low

Too low an ambient temperature can also cause a "flying target". This is because low temperatures harden adhesives from freezing and harden film-like materials and are not easy to bend. After the adhesive hardens, the adhesion between the adhesive and the backing paper becomes worse and the peeling force decreases. Most of these "flying labels" occur during die-cutting winding or slitting of small rolls and automatic labeling.


10. The label lamination tension is on the high side

After the laminated label, if the tension of the laminated film is too large, the film will be stretched, causing the composite film to curl towards the surface material, and the single label after die-cutting and scrapping will be reversed due to the loss of the involvement of the surrounding material Caused a "flying target". This type of "flying mark" mostly occurs in the process of winding or automatic labeling. In order to avoid such problems, when testing the tension of the laminate, the laminated label after die-cutting and discharging should not be removed directly from the backing paper, but should simulate the labeling method of the automatic labeling machine, curl the backing paper to push the label out of the backing paper, and make the pushed label adhesive side naturally fall down to the surface of the pre-prepared flat backing paper silicone layer. Labels with proper lamination tension control naturally fall flat on the surface of the silicone layer, while labels with high lamination tension will warp at both ends towards the surface material.
